NOVEMBER SCRAPPERDAY

Just a quick note to thank Pam and all the lovely ladies who came to my Moss Vale classes at FM Stationery. I hope you had as much fun as I did and I hope to share another day with you next year.

Our last Scrapperday for the year - already. But we are finishing on a high note with these two double page layouts. You will use a variety of techniques with ribbons, paper rolling and more.

November Scrapperday will be on Saturday 24th November in the Creative Scrapbooking workroom. We'll begin at 9am and lunch will be provided.

The first double page layout, Make Life Big, would suit feminine photos of friendship, weddings, family etc.  The photo sizes used are two 4" x 6" landscape photos and one 4" x 6" portrait photo all in black and white. Here's a peek at it.

The second double page layout, Treasure Forever, would suit scenery, wildlife, pets, masculine photos etc. The photos used are three 4" x 6" landscape photos. Here's a sneak peek.

You will need to bring:
basic kit
hole piercer
edge distresser
paper shaping tool
pink ink (Victorian velvet Distress ink)
brown ink
craft blade and metal ruler
soft lead pencil eg 2B
strong glue or glue dots

I would love to celebrate our end of year Scrapperday with you.

Moss Vale Classes

Well, I'm off to the Southern Highlands to teach some classes on the 20th of October at FM Stationery. Quite a change of climate from the tropical north to the crisp south.

The first class 'A Ladies Diary', is a double page layout that includes a slider and mini book and a variety of techniques.

The second class 'One of a Kind', is a single page layout  that uses lots of texture and techniques.

So if you live in this lovely part of the countryside, give Pam or Bernie a ring to book your place on 02 48682966.

I'm looking forward to meeting a lot new faces and catching up with some (no -  I'm not going to say old) great friends.

THE PREMIUM DIE CUTS

If you visited the Brisbane Papercraft Expo in June, you would have noticed the Creative Scrapbooking stand by the crowd gathered around Mike and BJ demonstrating their fantastic Cheery Lynn Designs dies. Not only are these high quality dies but they have a wide range of versatile designs.

These two layouts give you a 'taster' of just a few dies.

Timeless Beauty uses Window C to create a beautiful church window, Mini Flourish  Band for the intricate top and bottom border and Polynesian Sails Oval for the frame (even used gold 250 gsm card). It comes with a mini doily in the centre - two for one. I matched the flowers in the paper images by trimming Princess Tree, adding leaves from Flora Leaf Strip and a dab of red paint.

I also made lillies to match those on the paper using the leaf base from Large Rose and Flora Leaf strip.

In Shine I used Victorian Picket Fence for the fence as well as the border around the outside (trimmed it does great train tracks). The window shutters are Lattice 2 (I've since thought of an even easier way of making these with this die) and the pop out squares are great for title letter tiles. Love this Grass Border, it trims so nicely to fit any space.

The flowers are stacks of Large Rose (cuts several at once with the base) that have been stamped, inked, shaped or pinched then layered. The Fanciful Flourish (comes in several sizes) swirl is perfect for weaving in and out and can be easily trimmed to fit your needs. Wow, checkout this Small Lace Butterfly with Angel Wings. I cut it from vellum and attached it with a little spring to hover over the flowers. There are a number of other beautiful butterflies and doilies in lots of sizes.

You can see the full range of dies at www.cheerylynndesigns.com as well as videos with Mike giving helpful advice on their use. Creative Scrapbooking stocks a great range of Cheery Lynn Designs dies - just enquire with Maureen about the dies you're interested in.

AUGUST SCRAPPERDAY

Save the date for our next Ballina Scrapperday on Sunday 19th August, 9am till 4pm - it's a beauty. It will be held again at the Ballina CWA Hall (next to the RSL). The two double pages we will be creating are quite different.

On the Sunny Side is an interactive double page. When the bottom of the pages are pulled down photos and page elements pop up. It then folds back up to fit in your album pages. You will learn techniques for using honeycomb paper and for creating these pop ups. A fantastic layout to sit on a shelf for displaying photos of all the family enjoying life. You will need four black and white portrait photos trimmed to 3" x 4".

Good Times Documented double page uses a versatile blue brown colour combination suitable for so many themes and photos. You will create a matchbook for extra journalling or photos and use a mix of beautiful textured flowers and feathers for embellishments. You will need two 4" x 6" portrait photos. I also used a 3 3/4" x 2 3/4" landscape photo inside my matchbook on the first page.

You will need to bring:
cutting mat and basic tool kit
Vintage photo Distress ink, blending tool and mat or brown ink
sandpaper
powder blue ink
glue pen
glue dots or strong glue
craft blade and metal ruler
3D foam tape
scoring tool or bone scorer

You can book your place with Maureen on 07 55205598.

JUNE SCRAPPERDAY

Our next day is on Sunday 24th June, from 9.00 till 4.00,  at the CWA Hall in sunny Ballina by the sea.

We have decided to change our days and do 4 pages in the future. We will do either two double pages or matching pages.

Olde Curiosity Shoppe is the first double page layout and uses the fabulous Graphic 45 papers of the same name with some lovely corner clusters.

You will need three 6" x 4" portrait photos and one 4" x 6" landscape photo. I used photos of an arcade in Melbourne with lovely architecture. You could use photos of building or places as well as collected treasures or people. I used recent photos but old ones would also work well.

Where Did the Time Go? is the second double page and uses the gorgeous Prima Almanac Collection and Kaiser flower ribbon. It includes a fold out booklet to hold photos and journalling.

You will need two 6" x 4" portrait photos and one 4" a 6" landscape photo in black and white. Three small photos about 3" x 3" are also used inside the booklet. I used 3 recent photos on the layout and 3 past photos inside the booklet to show how quickly time passes and people grow and change. You could use photos of you and your partner, your children or even school friends.

You will need to bring: your basic kit and cutting mat as well as a  metal ruler and blade, glue pen, glue dots, edge distresser, curling tool, vintage photo ink or similar.

To make enquiries or book your place ring Creative Scrapbooking on 07 55205598

hope to see you there for a day of creative fun.

Time for some sharing

I thought I would share a few of my layouts and you won't even have to squint - not sneak peeks, full pages and even some doubles.

Remembering with you
I loved using the copper wired ribbon on this , it's so easy to work with. Liked the subtle shades that the Distress inks add to a layout.

Our family circus
This was how it seemed sometimes: 2 clowns, 1 daredevil, 2 performing beasts (our crazy pets) and 1 animal tamer.

Enjoy Life
These sticker sheets that have alphabets, border strips and words make creating a page so easy and economical. They are great to have in your stash for a rainy day of using up scrap papers and pieces.

Dance the night away
Graphic 45 are one of my favourite paper companies (as you've probably noticed). They almost tell the story for you while allowing you to a use a variety of themes. Flowers, feathers, ribbons and brads worked in so well to give texture.

Hugs
A little bit of punching, a little stamping and a little mist - a terrific way to highlight your photo.

Hope you have fun creating your own pages because I'm going out to check the ark - I'll need it if this rain keeps up.

Blue Bazaar Crop Bootcamp

Like many of you my stash just keeps growing at an alarming rate (I'll be right when the Great Scrapbooking Depression comes) only to be matched by my stack of "gonna do's". You know, we all have a pile of them - projects we will do when we get time, papers and photos that work really well together, or techniques and products we just have to have a go at.
Thanks to Blue Bazaar's Crop Bootcamp - the time has come. You can download these 15 page maps for free just go to www.bluebazaar.com.au and have a go. I haven't been a big fan of page maps in the past but I've found now, they are a great springboard for your creativity in a hurry.

I set myself this challenge - complete the 15 projects in a week.

I also added some of my own rules:

- buy nothing, use my stash
- nothing is too precious to use
- use any photos at hand that tell the story
- a project can be a layout or OTP (if they're in the stack they're in)
- don't let the maps restrict creativity, use as inspiration
- have fun, rules are meant to be broken

Well here are the results - I'm happy with them, thanks to BB for that oomph. I feel good - stuck to my rules and that pile of projects has gone down (can't say I notice any difference in the stash though).

Layout 1 : Not a Creature was Stirring

Layout 2: Lucky

Layout 3: Be beautiful

Layout 4: Merry January

Layout 5: The Journey Begins

Layout 6: One Lonely Lobster

Layout 7: The Open Road

Layout 8: Girlfriends

Layout 9: Precious Life

Layout 10: Motherhood

Layout 11: 4 ever Friends

Layout 12: The Carnival

Layout 13: Deck the Halls

Layout 14: Remember pendant (I know it's not a page but it fits the map and it was in the stack)

Layout 15: New York canvas (yes it was in the stack too)

Why don't you have a go too. You'll feel really virtuous later.
Enjoy
